More information on how you can provide support
Nominated staff from authorised agencies are assigned credentials that allow them to apply for the Leaving Violence Program on behalf of their client.
Authorised referral agencies will receive login credentials to our Referral Agency Portal. Learn more about the Referral Agent authorisation process.
You do not have to become authorised to support your client to apply for the Program. Options 2, 3, and 4 can be used by referral agencies to support their clients to access the Leaving Violence Program.
The Leaving Violence Program allows Referral Agents, support workers and other professionals to help their clients in different capacities.
If you are an authorised Referral Agent, you can:
- Apply on behalf of your client and manage their application.
- You can log in to the Leaving Violence Program Referral Agent Portal and to submit application on behalf of your client;
- You will work with a Leaving Violence Program support worker to progress the application; if approved
- We will work with your client to arrange payment; and
- You may wish to continue working with your client and offer on-going support.
If you have not gone through the authorisation process, you can:
Accelerate your client’s application process
- Using our webform, help submit key information and documents on behalf of your client;
- Help your client schedule a call with our support workers who will help them fill in any gaps and progress the application; if approved
- We will work with your client to arrange payment and help them understand how it can best support their needs.
- Refer your client to the Program
- You can refer your client by sharing their basic details.
- A Leaving Violence Program support worker will contact them to help start their application.
Whether you are an authorised Referral Agent or not, you may also be asked to help by:
- Uploading Supporting Documents
- If your client has already applied:
- You can upload documents (like risk assessments, safety plans, or support letters) using the document upload feature on the website.
- This helps support their application and ensures all relevant information is included.
- If your client has already applied:
- be experiencing Intimate Partner Violence;
- have left or have a plan to leave a violent Intimate Partner Relationship;
- have changed, or have been planning to change, how or where they live in the past 12 weeks because of the violence;
- 18 years or older;
- reside in Australia and have a current address;
- be experiencing financial stress;
- have not been supported through the Leaving Violence Program, Escaping Violence Payment (EVP) trial, or the Temporary Visa Holders Experiencing Violence Pilot in the last 12 months.
Your client will need some supporting documents to help their application get processed. These include a combination of documents you may have created with them (these include consent forms, safety plan and risk assessment) as well as supporting documents that help confirm your client’s details and situation (including age, residency, living situation, financial situation as well as any support letters they may have received).
Some examples of these documents include:
Uploading these supporting documents can help accelerate the application process. If you don’t have them available when you contact us, we can work with your client to collect them at a later time.
